From a young age, Greg has not only loved model trains but railroading as well. Growing up in Metro Detroit his view of railroading was heavily influenced by CSX, GTW, and his neighbors who were employees of Conrail. Starting with G scale, Greg eventually settled on HO Scale back in elementary school leading to his created freelance Michigan Interstate and from that MAC Transportation with numerous modelers being part of the franchise. Greg has been in Transportation related roles since 2003 with the past 18 years as a railroader. Married with two kids in Texas, Greg also is the proprietor of MAC Rail LLC making 3D printed HO Scale modern detail parts.
What AOMR means to me:
It took me some time to finally get it myself but in the process of building model railroads no matter scale or size we all are creating art. Sure, in its simplest of forms we use paint on the layout, but every aspect of model railroading such as signaling, scenery, and operations to name a few are its own art at the micro view or we can look at the macro level and few the entire model railroad as the art with each discipline being a different color on the palate. This podcast is the vehicle in which we can dive into these details and understand each modelers story. It’s a journey worth the effort and a community that deserves to have its art displayed and discussed.
